Membership 2024-2025
Membership of the Society is open to anyone interested in maintaining the long-standing links between Halifax and Aachen. New Members are always welcome and Membership entitles you to go on exchange visits to Aachen in Germany. The following year, a group of Aacheners will visit Halifax and we arrange for them to stay with the family or person they hosted the previous year. If that is not possible, then we find an alternative family to be their host. You can, if you wish, volunteer to host a visitor even if you are not interested in visiting Germany.
The new Membership year starts 1st October.
Full Membership application for current year closes on 30th April. However, for meeting attendance, you can apply to join as an Introductory Member for the remainder of the year as this will allow you to attend 4 meetings in the period May – September.
These are the five categories of Membership plus you may attend as a Guest for up to 2 meetings only.
Family Membership
Eligibility
One or two parents and any children up to the age of 16 as at the 31st Aug preceding the start of the Society year
Annual Fee: £40.00
Individual Membership
Eligibility
Any Non-member, Individual Member, or Introductory Member who is age 12 years or over as at 31st August preceding the start of the Society year
Annual Fee: £20.00
Student Membership
Eligibility
Any individuals who are age 17 years or over as at 31st August preceding the start of the Society year and participating in Further or Higher Education – renewable on a yearly basis.

Introductory Membership
Eligibility
New individuals who are age 12 years or over as at 31st August preceding the start of the Society year or a lapsed member of 5 years or more – to run for 1 year only
Annual Fee: £12.00
Upgrade to full Member after 4 visits
Associate Membership
Eligibility
Any individuals who are age 12 years or over as of 31st August preceding the start of the Society year – renewable on a yearly basis.
Annual Fee: £10.00
Upgrade to full Member on 1st visit (excluding Christmas Party)
Guests
Eligibility
Any individual or non-member who is age 12 years or over as at 31st August preceding the start of the Society year.
Fee: £3.00 per visit
Upgrade to full Member after 2 visits

Society meetings are usually held at the Maurice Jagger Centre, Halifax HX1 1UZ on the last Wednesday of every month with the exception of June and July.
