A group of visitors from Halifax’s twin town, Aachen, spent an enjoyable week viewing the attractions of our region and socialising with their host families. Old friendships were renewed and new ones created during a busy programme of activities.
Highlights included visits to Ilkley, Eyam and Bakewell and Knaresborough. A reception in the Town Hall was hosted by the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress, Councillor Ferman Ali and Mrs Shaheen Ali, who also attended a Farewell Dinner for the visitors, at Crow Nest Golf Club.
A special event was jointly arranged with the Elland-Riorges Association who were also hosting guests from their twin town Riorges in France at the same time – this took the form of a social and music evening at Queen’s Sports Club and was greatly enjoyed by over a hundred people.
