Northern Relish

John Wallace gave an amusing talk to the March meeting of the Society entitled Northern Relish.

His theme was the various types of humour and music in different parts of the North of England which he illustrated with jokes and songs accompanied on his banjo, ukulele and mandola. He described how humour and singing developed in the Music Halls and Variety Cubs producing stars such as Gracie Fields, George Formby and Les Dawson.
