Forget Me Not

At the March meeting of the Society Ian Wilson provided a fascinating account of the long campaign to establish the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice at Bradley, between Rastrick and Huddersfield.

After 12 years of fund raising and planning, the build of the £3m Hospice with state-of-the-art design and facilities was completed in September 2011. It is now being fitted-out and will be fully operational this summer. The Hospice cares for children with life threatening or limiting illnesses both in the centre and at home, as well as their families through respite care and other services and 35 families are already benefitting.

The Hospice will need to raise £2.5m annually to provide its services and now runs ten shops as well as a wide range of volunteer and fund raising activities.
