John Gilroy of Fawcett Gift Shop of Brighouse gave an interesting talk on Thorntons Chocolates which included an abundance of samples for an appreciative audience. He described the evolution of chocolate from its origins two hundred years ago as a drink taken with milk in Mexico to its central part in today’s confectionery and retailing businesses. The many varieties of chocolate were discussed and its health properties along with how best to store it in order to retain its flavour.
