At its last meeting the Society was delighted to welcome Graham Richmond and his family and to receive the donation of a commemorative plate. In 1960 Graham was a member of Ovenden Youth Club when the youth leaders arranged a visit of 20 youths from Aachen. During the day football matches with the visitors and trips in and around Halifax were arranged. The evenings were spent at the Youth Club enjoying activities such as table tennis, dancing and cookery. It all culminated on the last night with a dance at Spring Hall. Graham’s family hosted one of the visitors and were given the plate as a friendship gift between Aachen and Halifax.
At the same meeting members enjoyed an evening of games and puzzles arranged by Tricia and Neil Atkinson who were thanked by the Chair.
