Sybil Oakley gave an interesting talk called Storybook Dads to the August meeting of the Society. She spoke about her time as a volunteer in an initiative at Buckley Hall Prison in Lancashire aimed at enabling first female, then male prisoners to keep in contact with their children through reading stories which were recorded on tape and sent to their families. With the support of the local Rotary Club and a benefactor the initiative was later able to record the readings on film. She explained how the initiative had proved popular with many prisoners and had strengthened the bond with their children.
